To solve today’s most complex and pressing problems we as an evaluation community need to re-examine how we ‘do’ evaluations to render evidence-based solutions. As practitioners we have a duty to widen our purview as well as alter our practice to have more inclusive/unbiased perspectives, resulting in better guidance for sustainable change. How can this be done? A systems approach to evaluation can guide how evaluations are designed, conducted, and ultimately used. Evaluation needs to resolve global problems. Evaluation has a unique and important role demonstrating impact and shaping policy to affect change for social good.

EES was initiated in 1992 and registered in 1996 as a non-profit association. The first official board was elected in autumn 1995 and started its work in January 1996. Since the start of the Society, it has organized thirteen biennial conferences in as many European countries.
